County Roscommon Special Speed Limit Bye Laws 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Roscommon County Council in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 9 of the Road Traffic Act, 2004 (No. 44 of 2004), as amended, proposes to make Bye‑Laws in accordance with Phase 2 of the National Speed Limit Review, namely the County Roscommon Special Speed Limit Bye‑Laws 2026. The purpose of these Bye‑Laws is to implement special speed limits on public roads within the administrative area of Roscommon County Council.

The public consultation period will run from Tuesday, 28th July 2026 to Thursday, 27th August 2026 (inclusive). The schedules and location maps of these proposed amendments are available for inspection during normal office hours (9:30am to 1pm and 2pm to 3:30pm) Monday to Friday from Tuesday, 28th July 2026 to Thursday, 27th August 2026 (both dates inclusive) at the following location:

  • Roads and Transportation Department, Áras An Chontae, Roscommon, F42VR98
  • Boyle Municipal District Office, Cootehall Street, Boyle, Co. Roscommon, F52 X436
  • Athlone Municipal District Office, Athlone Civic Centre, Monksland, Co. Roscommon, N37 W5P9

The proposed amendments schedules and accompanying maps are also available to view on the Roscommon County Council’s Consultation Portal using the following link or scan the QR code below:

Submissions or observations relating to the above-mentioned speed limit review can be made by emailing roads@roscommoncoco.ie or by post clearly marked “County Roscommon Special Speed Limit Bye-Laws 2026” to The Director of Services, Roads and Transportation Department, Roscommon County Council, Áras an Chontae, Roscommon, F42 VR98.

The closing date for submissions is 5pm on Thursday, 27th August 2026
